The baptism of William Penn and marriage of John Quincy Adams

All Hallows by the Tower London

You cannot fail to be amazed by All Hallows by the Tower. It is the oldest church in the City of London. It was founded by the Abbey of Barking in 675 AD – 300 years before the Tower of London was built. It’s a fabulous church to participate in a traditional English Christmas service. All Hallows by the Tower is also the location of the baptism of William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania – and he was educated in the old schoolroom.  It’s also where John Quincy Adams, sixth president of the USA, was married in 1797 (see the entry in the Marriage Register).
