Welcome. Thank you for visiting ‘Essential History’.
‘Essential History’ discusses the people, places and events that have shaped our world.

Essential History is researched, written and photographed by me. I’m a lecturer in business organisation and a popular history writer and author of three books: ‘The Pub Lover’s Guide to London’ (Pen & Sword), ‘Essential Clapham – a pocket guide’ and ‘The Culture Lover’s Guide to Madrid’ (Pen & Sword (2025).
I began to build Essential History in 2017 to support my City of London and City of Westminster guiding qualifications and an MA in Historical Research (Birkbeck) – but now seeking to provide interesting content for anyone who enjoys history and culture.
I hope you enjoy your visit to Essential History – and that you recommend http://www.essentialldn.com on your website and social media. Thank you!
