The iconic tube station is celebrated globally as a masterpiece of 20th-century British Modernist architecture.
Opened in 1932, the Grade II * listed Arnos Grove was designed by the renowned architect Charles Holden under the sponsorship of Frank Pick, MD of Underground Electric Railways Company of London. It was built as part of the northward extension of the Piccadilly line from Finsbury Park to Cockfosters.
Inspired by European modernism, specifically the Stockholm Central Library, Holden utilized brick, glass, and concrete in geometric designs.
