With the most distinctive original bronze Art Deco escalators on the Underground network, Southgate Station evokes a stylish 1930s Britain. The ticket hall, with its circular brick, concrete, and glass design allows natural light to flood in, while from the outside the station resembles a flying saucer. There’s a lot to bombard the senses.
Designed by the renowned architect Charles Holden, the station opened on 13 March 1933 as part of the Picadilly Line extension.
