The London Underground station with the most lines and platforms

With five lines and ten platforms, Baker Street Station is more complex than any other Underground station in London.

Being one of the seven original stations of the steam-powered locomotive Metropolitan Railway that opened in 1863 (the earliest Underground line), it is also one of the oldest underground stations.

Built using the ‘cut and cover’ method the original station platforms are now 5 and 6, serving the Hammersmith & City Line.

Today’s Metropolitan line platforms were opened in 1925. The other lines passing through Baker Street are the Circle, Bakerloo and later the Jubilee in 1979.
