Albany (House) is an exclusive, Grade I listed, apartment complex located in Piccadilly. Built in 1770 for the 1st Viscount Melbourne it was converted into separate apartments in 1802, today it is famous for its strict privacy and discretion.
The building was designed by Sir William Chambers (Somerset House) and remodeled into 69 apartments by Henry Holland. Past residents include Lord Byron and Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone as well as numerous members of the aristocracy.
Along with Apsley House (Robert Adam) and Burlington House (Richard Boyle) it is one of the few surviving grand mansions of Piccadilly.
